Milli: "but we don't want kids"
Me: "I know but I think we might need them"
Milli: "why do we need them?"
Me: "because I.T is so hard these days with code writing and shit, if we have a kid, they could learn it all at school then teach us so we keep up with the times"
Milli: "you want a kid just so you can learn I.T?"
Me: "well probably not, but I'm just saying, we need to be better at technology"
Milli: "ok crazy, can I un-pause big brother now?"
So yeah I'm not great with computers (or kids) but last September I decided to set up a website and start writing a blog.
At the minute this is a very basic website because I don't know how to do anything to it other than post a blog. Plus it's too confusing to work out how to post it from the laptop so I type everything on the notes in my phone which leaves me with limited phone memory and early arthritis I think!
Anyway, I posted a few blogs and videos last year just to dip my toe in the ocean of bloggers to see if people enjoyed reading/watching and if they found my waffle useful.
Not to blow my own trumpet, (even though it's totally ok to celebrate yourself) but I got some amazing feedback from all of you wonderful people.
I've heard from people I haven't spoken to in years and even strangers get in touch! People who I've never actually met before, they don't know me from Adam (who's Adam, ha) but they have taken the time to listen to what I have to say and contact me about it, it's amazing!
The best bit about blogging is when people get in touch asking for my help because for me, this is what it's all about.
Sometimes it's "can you help me find something to wear?" Or "what foundation do you think is best for my skin?" And sometimes it's just general advice. No matter what it is I am always happy to help and will always give the best advice I possibly can.
I just want to put it out there now, if anyone ever wants to get in touch about anything at all, I implore you to do so.
Don't ever feel like you have no where to turn because I will always lend an ear and help however I can.
Blogger competition
The first stage of the competition was to get as much interaction as possible on social media by getting people to like and share a post about the comp.
I was actually blown away by the amount of people that helped me out with this. I know I've posted status' to say thank you before, but I just want to say it again.
From the bottom of my heart I am so very grateful to each and every one of you that liked and shared that post. It genuinely made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside because every notification of support from you lot was a reminder that you believe in me (I know this is like as strong as Stilton for cheese level but it's true!).
Anyway, thanks to all that love from you, I was shortlisted!!!
I love a sociable weekend but this competition was so important I locked myself in so I could be totally focussed on the task at hand.
Also, all of January Radio 1 have been running daily competitions to see amazing shows like trips to Paris to watch Bastille and stuff. I've wanted to enter so many of them but haven't because I needed all of my luck to be zoned in on the blogging comp. I could have won tickets to see Adele guys!
Anyway, I finished the blog and submitted it with my fingers and toes crossed, counting down the minutes until the winners were announced.
Unfortunately I wasn't one of those winners and I can't lie, I was disappointed.
After thinking long and hard about it I decided not to feel disheartened because I am a huge believer in fate and it obviously wasn't meant to be!
I'm so grateful that I was able to take part because the whole experience has made me realise that I really want to work hard on the blog and reach out to even more people. So going forward you are going to see some changes!
The first and biggest change is the blog name which is going from Jess Logic to....drum roll...........
Jess on the plus-size
It's so hard naming yourself because you want to let people know what you're about but it needs to be to the point.
I've literally been trying to think of a new name for months and the best I came up with was 'Jess Elephantine' as it means 'large and clumsy' which I thought was apt when describing myself. The biggest problem with that name is I could barely pronounce it, nightmare!
So I roped in one of my lovely friends who has experience in this sort of thing to help come up with a name and in less than 24 hours he had so many good ideas, totally put me and my large clumsy ass to shame!
I decided to go with Jess on the plus-size because I would class myself as a plus-size blogger and the play on words makes it positive, and I am all about the positivity!
I will also be setting up a new website very soon. I say "I will" I mean my friend will because as I said me and technology aren't mates! But basically, watch out for updates and improvements that will make it easier to follow the blog.
Oh and you'll be pleased to know that I'm also going to be working hard on my video skills to try and give better tutorials. I know I waffle on too much and I'm not the best at describing what I'm doing but I aim to improve! !
Why am I doing this?
i want to share how I transform myself with pretty clothes, makeup, beauty products and treatments because when I do, it makes me feel good. You might try something that I have done or wear a dress I recommended and it might make you feel good!
It might sound shallow to some because natural beauty is also important, but personally I feel better when I take the time to paint my face in makeup and wear a dress that flatters my curves.
Over the years I have been learning how to make enhance my looks and the things I've picked up might be useful to you.
I didn't realise how much I have changed until this picture came up on my Timehop of me at a wedding 7 year ago...
At the end of the day there is no right or wrong answer when it comes to taking care of yourself as long as you take care of yourself.
Wear what makes you feel comfortable, draw your eyebrows as thick or as thin as you want, spend 5 minutes or 5 hours getting ready, there are no rules! You just make sure you do you.
Thank you again for all of your continued support, it means the world xxx
Much love beautiful people ❤️
